Speaking of air filters, I believe everyone is familiar with them. The most commonly seen air filter on trucks is the inertia air filter. The filter element consists of two filters, one large and one small. The larger one outside is called the 'main filter', and the smaller one inside is called the 'safety filter'.
What are the issues to pay attention to when maintaining filters?
1. The position of the dust outlet should be at the lowest part of the filter. When there is negative pressure inside the filter, air enters the filter through the dust valve. Under the pressure difference between the inside and outside, not only will unfiltered air directly enter the air filter element, but the filtered dust cannot be discharged, resulting in a significant reduction in the filtering effect and service life of the air filter.
When working in rainy days or environments with high air humidity, it is recommended to regularly clean the dust outlets and channels to see if there are any issues with poor dust removal.
2. The filter paper of the safety filter has high permeability, low resistance, and low filtration efficiency. It is not allowed to start the engine when only the safety filter is installed. If dust is found on the safety filter, it is most likely that the main filter is damaged and should be replaced immediately.
3. Cleaning sequence of filters
(1) Firstly, remove the main filter element, block both ends of the filter element with a clean cloth or rubber stopper, and use a soft bristled brush to brush away the dust on the surface of the filter element along the crease direction. Gently tap the end face of the filter element to remove the dust. Liquid cleaning is prohibited during cleaning to prevent dust from adhering to the filter element and causing blockage.
(2) Secondly, check if the main filter element is damaged. Whether the upper and lower end faces are warped and uneven; Check if the rubber sealing ring of the main filter element is damaged; Check if there is dust on the inside of the main filter element. If the above problems exist, the main filter element should be replaced immediately.
(3) Finally, use a strong flashlight to check if the filter element is damaged. Do not remove the safety filter element during inspection. If the safety filter element is damaged, it should be replaced immediately. During the process of cleaning the air filter housing, use a clean cloth to wipe the inner wall of the housing clean and check whether the dust exhaust valve can discharge dust normally.
4.Frequent cleaning of the air filter can result in the filter's filtering capacity not being fully utilized and can also cause early damage to the filter.
After each cleaning, the dust holding capacity of the filter element will decrease by 20% -40%. As the cleaning frequency increases, the ash holding capacity of the filter element will gradually decrease. After cleaning the filter element for about 6 times, its dust holding capacity is basically lost, and a new filter element should be replaced immediately.
5. Ash storage capacity is a sign of the service life of air filter cartridges. When the air filter needs maintenance and the intake resistance reaches the set value, the indicator light will light up, sending a maintenance signal to remind the driver to immediately maintain or replace the air filter.
6. With the policy orientation of emission upgrading, more and more National VI vehicles are being chosen by a large number of users. In order to enable users to better use National VI vehicles, please use original filter components such as air filters, diesel filters, and engine filters to ensure the cleanliness of the intake, fuel, and oil.
